The New
Arrivals
Return to Animal Refuge Page
In the past few weeks 5
kittens and one cat have come in to the refuge.
Griselda,
a 4 year old torti-tabby has had a traumatic and
desperately sad 9 months. Her owner passed away and her
4 feline friends were taken to a new home but she was
left under a house since August 06 to fend for herself.
She survived because neighbours threw her some scraps of
food. " When we brought her home to the shelter, she had
the appearance of an old cat. Her hair was thin and very
short but after examining her teeth which were in
pristine condition, the vet decided that she was less
than 5 years old. She purred the moment we took her out
of the carry basket. At present she is unwilling to
leave the security of her big holding cage as she has
warmth and food there. Most days she curls up in her bed
and purrs. It will take some time for her to recover
from her psychological trauma and sadness, loss and lack
of food. What she needs is a good loving home."

Bruiser
and Soxy are a pair of 11 week old kittens who escaped
death at the pound at 2 weeks of age. They are now very
friendly, playful kittens who love being with people.

Jackie
Chan is an 8 week old female tabby and white kitten
who was found wandering near a 6 lane highway just
before Easter. She was handed in a little frightened and
needing veterinary treatment for stomach trouble. She is
progressing well.
Two little
tabby and white 5 week old kittens arrived with skin
irritation to their feet and face caused by food drying
on their face like concrete. Some of their face and legs
had to be shaved to remove the caked on food. They were
ravenous at first but now they are happy and certainly
full of beans. These are definitely kittens with
character!
