Animal Refuge
Wendi's love
of animals began when she was two years old. She had a
large semi wild black cat with which she shared its
food, much to her mother's horror! A succession of
animals followed over the years-bantam chickens,
budgies, fish, cats, dogs, rabbits, rats and the odd
possum or two.
For many
years Wendi and her husband, Ken, have been rescuing
homeless, abandoned and sometimes cruelly treated
animals. They restore them to health and then search for
suitable homes for them. Before the animals leave the
refuge they are vet checked, desexed, chipped and
vaccinated. Every adoption takes several hours as the
right loving home must be found to ensure that the
animal will not be abandoned again. The very old and
ones with health problems remain. Animals are not
euthanased because they don't have a home or because
there are too many.
Read
about Levi,
a beautiful champagne fluffy male cat.
In some ways Levi could be viewed as unlucky or accident
prone, but on reviewing his life so far, I believe that
he’s one lucky cat...
Read about Wendi’s rescued and amazing cats,
Sabrina
and
Annabelle; they are
worth their weight in gold!

Sabrina, a small black cat with a white spot the
size of a ten- cent piece on her chest, came to us after
she and her 4 kittens had been heartlessly dumped...

Not long after this, a white cat with one blue eye and
one green one came into my care. We called her
Annabelle.
The New Arrivals
In the past few weeks 5
kittens and one cat have come in to the refuge. Each has had a traumatic and
unhappy time.

The Story of Gus The Possum
Gus came into our lives almost two and a half years ago.
He was going blind and could no longer compete for food.
He had Stress Dermatitis on his leg. To add to his
miseries the cockatoos had begun to attack him. One
night when I was late home after work, he came running
along the fence and practically threw himself into my
arms. He was asking for help.
